Streaks: Show Up Every Day (Without Turning Chores Into a Guilt Trip)

Some weeks the dishwasher gets emptied twice before breakfast. Other weeks the recycling waits patiently until Thursday and judges you for it. Either way, the quiet win is often simpler than “who did the most this week.” It’s whether someone showed up today—and then again tomorrow. That’s Streaks in Chorish: consecutive days with at least one chore done, so the habit stays visible without turning the kitchen into a guilt scoreboard.

What Streaks actually track

Streaks ask one question: did this person finish a chore today? Your chore list can still reset daily or weekly—that’s how the board stays tidy. The streak is only about showing up, not whether every job on the list is green.

A chore already marked done does not lock anyone else out. If Mia and Noah both help with the same job, both still get credit for their day. Miss a full day with nothing completed, and that person’s chain starts over—simple as that.

From day 2, a flame shows on the member tile. The streak count lives on the Streaks board—not as a big number on the card.

Where you’ll see them

Streaks are on by default, and they turn up in a few places:

  • Flame on the tile — From day 2, a small flame appears on their member card. Open the board when you want the actual count.
  • Streaks board — Tap Streaks next to Choreboard for the household view: bronze, silver, and gold medals that get shinier as the chain grows.
  • House goal — Owners can set a shared target of 7, 14, or 30 days. Hit it, celebrate, and print.
  • Manage home → Streaks — Turn Streaks off if you want a quieter dashboard. Stored streaks stay until you clear them on purpose.

The Streaks board holds the medals, goal rosettes, and Print when someone has earned a certificate.

Streak certificates vs “well done” certificates

Chorish already has Certificates of Recognition—owner-awarded designs that live on a member’s profile (Star Performer, Kindness Award, Chore Champion, and friends). A streak certificate is different: it’s a printout from the Streaks board when someone hits the house day goal. Same fridge door, different reason to celebrate.

In short: Streaks are about showing up every day. Awarded certificates are how you mark a moment. The streak certificate is the printout when they hit 7, 14, or 30.

A week that looks like a streak

Picture a busy household. Monday someone empties the dishwasher before school. Tuesday they remember the bins. Wednesday it’s a two-minute tidy that still counts. By Thursday the flame is on their tile—not because they “won,” but because they kept going. Meanwhile someone else is climbing toward the house 14-day goal, and the Choreboard is still doing its own job: who finished the most chores this period. Two kinds of progress, one kitchen tablet.

Roommates get the same calm view: you can see who’s building a rhythm without turning shared chores into a debate. Prefer a quieter stretch? Flip Streaks off in Manage; the flame and board hide, and nothing gets wiped just because you needed a simpler week.

Why day streaks fit Chorish

Chorish is already about visible progress: the Choreboard, the little confetti moments when counts tick up, and the quick games that give you a breath between jobs. Streaks add a habit layer—consecutive days, not another nag about perfection.

And it’s still Chorish underneath: no sign-up to get started, touch-friendly for a tablet on the counter, and your home data stays in the browser on your device unless you choose to export it.

Keep the chain going

Ready to try it? Open Chorish, load your home, and do a chore today. Tomorrow, do another. From day 2, watch for the flame—then open Streaks next to Choreboard when you want the medals, a house goal, or a printable certificate. Questions about homes, resets, or how Chorish stays private?
